Testimonials / Client Revenge

I love testimonials.  Even the bad ones.  Because they help me grow.  The good ones help me grow as well, I just sometimes have trouble fitting my head through the doorway afterwards :)

A quick one from Jeff telling me in no small order how he feels after his small group ski conditioning class (earmuffs, kids!)

One from Karyn talking about how I need to pick up the pace in her workouts:

This is Tom – he is a great guy and not just because he knows how to use the word ‘tutelage’

Three very different approaches but three different people I am very proud to have worked with.  If you want to see more let me know and I will post em up!

Got something you want to get in shape for?  Have an urge to be featured on the wall of fame here?  It can be yours!  Just give me a call or send me an email – jamescatlas@yahoo.com is the email, Highlands Denver is the area and personal training is the excuse I use for my voracious hunger to understand the human body, mind and all the ways it works together to create change both postive and negative.

If you would like to start making positive change in the right direction – email me at jamescatlas@yahoo.com today!

What are you waiting for?  You don’t believe those nice people up above?  Well dear reader, If I cant help you I promise to refer you to a specialist who can.  Either way, you end up getting in the right direction – which is so much better than going nowhere, right?

More testimonials:

This testimonial from my client John is one that left me thinking ‘he’s talking about me, right?’.

Jamie Atlas has been my personal trainer for almost a year.

Although I had high expectations for working with Jamie (three different people gave him an outstanding reference), I had no idea how instrumental he would be in causing me to succeed in one of the greatest athletic challenges I’ve ever faced.

I started working with Jamie assuming he would be like all the other personal trainers I’d been around at my fitness center–the standard issue iron pumping, motivation-through-exhortation trainer.

Instead, our first couple of sessions were remarkable because he methodically and thoroughly “inventoried” the state of my physical well being and took the time to completely understand my fitness goals. I had been training for a marathon for a few months with mixed results, and had recently developed a serious case of Achilles tendonitis.

Through a combination of evaluative exercises that seemed unconventional to say the least, Jamie was able to uncover the cause of my injury (it turned out to be weak arches). Through more targeted strengthening exercises, my arches recovered their strength, my Achilles problem fully resolved, and I successfully completed my first marathon.

Once I completed the marathon, I switched my focus to strengthening my upper body and increasing overall muscle mass. Proving his versatility, Jamie responded with a training regimen that began producing results very quickly.

Knowing that I plan to continue a fairly intensive running program, he has balanced the demands of long distance running (and the effect that produces on the body) with my strengthening goals. I’m convinced that he has the knowledge and skill to design a program for any combination of goals I can imagine, no matter how complicated.

Jamie’s training methods represent the most advanced state of the art. He believes in working entire muscle groups in concert with one another, not just isolating a single muscle (although he can get you looking like a body builder if that’s what you’re after). He couples the exercise with solid advice and information on nutrition (Jamie’s knowledge and advice are on par with professional nutritionists).

In short, his approach is holistic and is tailored to my needs with an overall goal of maximizing the health and fitness of my entire body. The key intangible is that all this is accomplished with a positive and humorous demeanor that keeps me looking forward to every session.

It’s easy to see why his clients have included Olympians and professional athletes. It seems that no fitness goal is impossible under his expert guidance.

(Editors note:  Wow, John!  After a testimonial like that I think I will need to name my next child after you!  Muchos Gracias!)

This next testimonial comes from Maggie, amazing person with determination and the courage to stand up and demand to know more.  She keeps me on my toes, that’s for sure!

Thanks to Maggie C for taking the time to write about her experience - truly an amazing woman!

I have worked out with Jamie Atlas for the past 12 weeks, and my experience with him has been amazing.

I’ve worked out with five personal trainers in my life. The first was when I was in my early 20’s, and this guy was really into body building and making me as pumped up as possible. We’d do pyramids on the bench press, and I’d be so exhausted it was tough to wash my hair afterwards.

I have been to several other trainers since then, including one woman who was an ex-Marine. She was so hard-core and I loved working out with her, however I was unable to walk without extreme discomfort between sessions.

While I really felt I was getting my money’s worth, I was told by countless friends that it didn’t seem like a good thing if it impaired my ability to function between workouts.

The rest of the trainers I’ve had seemed sort of like they were on a pit stop in life in a temporary career so they weren’t fully invested. The last one before Jamie was really self-absorbed, and talked about himself the whole time we trained. Not good.

I started training with Jamie because a close friend recommended him to me. I wanted to find someone I trusted and I didn’t want to spend a gazillion dollars on training. I am fairly athletic and I wanted to train with someone who knows a lot more than I do…that’s one of the things I’m paying for!

I also wanted to train with someone I enjoy spending time with, since it’s a couple of hours a week. Jamie met all my criteria and we were off and running!

I have trained both in person at Jamie’s studio and virtually, over the Internet. This always makes people curious. We each have a webcam ($30 at Best Buy, plug and play), and he instructs me from the studio while I’m in my office at home.

It’s great because there’s no travel time (and no gas cost), very little equipment, and the workouts have been phenomenal! What I like most about the sessions is they’re always tailored to me and they’re always different. A lot of the exercises we do I haven’t done or even considered doing before, because Jamie is so into working multiple body parts at the same time, and functional training to get me in shape for things I actually DO in real life. What a concept!

He’s also focused a ton on helping my left knee back to good health. I have a group of gals from my work who have done a group session virtually, and that’s been a great experience too, because I get to see what everyone is doing from their respective homes, and it makes the workouts really fun.

I have lost about four lbs since working out with Jamie, though weight loss isn’t really a big goal for me. I have also gained muscle, which probably affects this number somewhat.

My fitness goals are more about body composition, so we recently took my measurements and my body fat, which will be a perfect way to gauge my starting point and to look at my progress.

The other thing Jamie has done for me is allowed me to have a more positive attitude about what I already have in my life, and what I already do for myself. He’s much more holistic than other trainers, and because he looks at the big picture, and always asks what else is going on in life, I feel he’s invested in my total wellness.

We have consistently worked out two days per week together and I totally look forward to the workouts, because I know I’m going to be sweating my butt off and working hard every session.

That’s what it’s all about for me – being challenged, seeing positive results, and having fun!

I would recommend Jamie to anyone looking to get a workout that is unique, functional, and fun. His approach will change the way you think about health and fitness!

I would also recommend the webcam to webcam personal training. Once you get used to it, the convenience can’t be beat (and the workout is still awesome!)

Tom H has been a client for the past 4 months now.  He has made great changes and was nice enough to write the following testimonial for me.  Thanks Tom!

Rejuvenation is defined in Webster as: 1 a: to make young or youthful again: give new vigor to b: to restore to an original or new state .

We all know that we can’t reverse our age but I have found a mentor who has given me more vigor and stamina. In a little over two months ( with a 10 day vacation break) this man has taken from being tired and achy (some times cranky) 68 year old man to a refreshed, fit, energetic, upbeat, healthy and optimistic new man. I look better, feel better, stand taller, sleep better and have more energy and stamina. I feel better now then I did 25 years ago.

You might want to know how this came about without stimulants, energy potions or other medications. The answer is simple. It has been achieved by the guided exercise routines of a newfound friend, Jamie Atlas.

I could not have achieved this new feeling of well being without his expert guidance. I am learning all the right moves now but still need his upbeat routines that keep moving for the entire session.

I’ve had personal trainers in the past but none that have taken me to these heights. What I like most about Jamie is his unique and functional approach to fitness and well being. Pushups (his way) have become my friend and squats and resistance exercises have become fun. His knowledge of kinetics and his ability to explain why we do what we do is outstanding.

Every session I learn something new and even the homework he gives me is a learning experience.

I’m slowly catching on to his way of working the body and I feel fitter and stronger after each session. Jamie thanks for being my guide on the path to rejuvenation.

I no longer need to take Tylenol or ibuprofen for tired achy joints and back.

Jamie Atlas is giving me a new life and I will always be grateful to him.

Hey Jaime. I have always been into researching and finding new ways to improve my workouts and body/health/spirit and I found your site today when looking up more excercises to build fibers in the glutes.Your site is amazing. I do a somewhat obsessive amount of surfing and research on new moves and health and diet, but you seem to be my new favorite. Awesome stuff. How much would it cost for a webcam session?
My mother is a personal trainer as well and I have been working out since I was about 13. I make up my own routines and incorporate new things along the way to keep my muscles guessing, and so I dont get bored. Anyways im blabbing. Please email me when you get the chance. I have tons of questions and opinions if you want to bounce some back and forth.

Hey Aimee! So glad you like the site. Being Australian I am all about helping people get as good as they can at surfing – in fact I just finished watching the movie ‘surfwise’ – what a great movie! The guy is 84 years old and could kick my ass – not that that means anything ;)

Send me an email to jamescatlas at gmail.com and lay your questions down! Webcam sessions vary depending on what you are looking for, but would be happy to give you a free 20 minutes to take a look at how you move and do some simple assessment patterns to see what we are working with.
