Surfing is not snowboarding, nor is it skateboarding. You don’t lie down on your snowboard then pop up just as you are gathering speed. Nor does snowboarding or skateboarding require you to paddle your way back up the hill after a big run (although it would be funny to watch!)
Surfing is an excellent all over full body conditioning exercise. If you need evidence of this, just head on down to the beach and watch the bodies coming in off the surf.

Alana Blanchard: Two time world surf champion - and looking good doing it!
What kind of body could you get from getting into the surfing?
Here’s what Alana Blanchard has to say about the aesthetic benefits of Surfing:

Everybody catch that?
Maybe the results you are after has more to do with getting ready to surf so you can actually get up on the board and catch some turns rather than turn the day into a paddle & flop-fest.
Normally I sell these programs off to clientele. Here’s a program for you to view and print off to do next time you hit the gym:

Here is a testimonial from a recent personal training client who followed a close variation of that Surfing Program:
I was referred to Jamie to prep for surfing with my son in Costa Rica. I had pain in my hips and shoulders and had basically allowed myself to ‘go to seed’ for the past three years after an unfortunate cycling related incident.
Jamie worked wonders with my hips using some gentle stretching techniques that were tailored to my exact needs in real time. At the end of each session (3x/week) Jamie added new stretches to my daily routine which I did pretty religiously.
By the end of one month of training I felt 10 years younger – much more flexible, improved posture and ready to step back into a more balanced lifestyle.
The proof is in the pudding: I learned to surf in Costa Rica, came back and resumed trail running/cross training. I feel so much better than before and a side benefit has been a natural desire to eat more healthfully so I can assist my body in its healing/rejuvination process. Jamie knows what hes doing and I’ll have my sons heading his way when their schedules permit.
Scott even granted permission for me to connect him to anyone who doesn’t believe him. Let me know if you have any questions regarding our Surf Training program (or if you live in the Denver area, I run bootcamps and personal training) then please feel free to get in touch.
Enjoy the program! Surf on, Dude!
And now, in the name of equality – A certified hottie holding a surfboard.

Matt probably couldn’t surf to save his life, but not sure you even thought about that now, did you ladies
Yours in health,
Jamie Atlas
